My dad, Pops, 100th Birthday Party - July 9, 2016

On Saturday, Family and a few close friends celebrated Pops 100th birthday at Gilgamesh Brewing in Salem, OR. Brother Lyle wrote a song to mark the occasion that was based on the movie Stripes where Bill Murray, John Candy, and the other recruits marched onto the parade field and sang. We all had a great time!!!

My dad's 99th Birthday.  On July 9th, my sister Liz and I took Pops to dinner. One of his favorite meals is a Wendy's crispy chicken sandwich. Liz had a cake made to replicate it, and we had a family party at her house. I gave him 99 Ghirardelli chocolate squares. A great time was had by all.  Happy Birthday Pops!!!

My brother Michael "Rowdy" Yates died on April 28th after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in March. He'd be alive today had Kaiser Permanente run tests instead of calling it pneumonia and sending him home after two emergency visits when he couldn't breath. On June 29, we had a celebration of life at Willamette National Cemetery for family and close friends. Mike, a big NASCAR fan, and I talked about a road trip to attend as many NASCAR races as possible after he retired. A chocoholic, he enjoyed Butterfingers, Oreos, and chocolate milk. Mike is now at peace where he prayed to be parking after his last ride.
